Florida Motorcycle Accidents
According to data provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, states with a year-round riding season are more apt to have a higher annual rate of motorcycle accidents. Florida, like many other southern states, is noted for its warm weather and scenic routes that attract motorcyclists from all over the United States and Canada. However, in recent years, thanks to the efforts of the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, Florida's motorcycle crash rate, injury rate and death rate have seen double-digit declines (see chart below)

In most major cities throughout the Sun Belt, traffic jams and gridlocked road conditions are a daily occurrence during the peak commuting hours of the morning and afternoon. According to a 2002 report from the Center for Urban Transportation Research, more than half of Florida's motorcycle traffic occurs on weekend days (see chart below). So extra precautions should

be taken traveling on your favorite ride on Saturday and Sunday. Despite the aggressive efforts of the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, many motorist just fail to see motorcyclists on Florida streets and roadways. In fact, following a motorcycle crash, many motorist admit that they simply failed to take the time to see the oncoming bike.
